OUR HOMES

WOODFORD CARE HOME

Welcome to Woodford Childrens Home

Woodford Childrens Home follows a therapeutic community model of practice. Children who benefit from the group living experience are those who have experienced significant trauma in their early lives that has impacted their developmental milestones.

It is important that the children who are placed with us are able to attend community services such as education or are engaged in CAMHS support and are able to attend our daily community group meetings.

We work especially well with children who are struggling with their identity and have varying degrees of gender identity and/or dysphoria.

The staff receive extra support to help them understand the children’s behaviour and their emotional responses to the children.  The team work hard piecing together the whole team’s reaction to our children's identity and their non-verbal communication that can be acted out in their behaviour.  Rather than react to the behaviour, we work in staff process groups to understand our children and respond to them empathically and in non-judgemental ways.

The children work on their behaviour with rewards and consequences discussed in our community meetings.
