CarEERS AT WOODFORD

Are you a caring and empathetic person who has the resilience and dedication that it takes to build relationships with traumatised children?

Perhaps you are an experienced practitioner that has become disillusioned with the system and the poor practice that can take place at all levels and you are looking for a change?

At Woodford we do things differently, we see it as our mission not just to care for our children but also to protect them from further systemic abuse suffered by many care experienced young people.

We do this by holding all our colleagues to account, defending the rights of children and first and foremost by ensuring we recruit people who share our values and will go over and above to meet the needs of the children in our care.

Those working in children’s social care know that there is a lot of bad in the world around us and this can sometimes make us feel helpless, its time to do something about it, come and join the good guys!

My experience began at Woodford in December 2019, to find a company that wanted to improve children’s experience in the care system and create a children’s home based on therapeutic community values, was an exciting opportunity for me.  Firstly, the managing director had to put his trust in me and allow my theoretical ideas to be put into place.

Creating a group living experience for team members and the children to grow in together.  Then the pandemic hit, my resilience was put to the test.  Together we soldiered through.

Woodford is an organisation that has given me the opportunity to grow my creativity.  Woodford gives ambitious people with innovative ideas a chance to push the boundaries and grow as professionals and individuals.  I came to Woodford with a lot of experience.  However, I have learnt more than I could ever imagine I would in my time here.  The organisation saw the experience I had, and saw that I could learn the rest that I needed within their structure.  This allowed me to put my ideas into practice, learn about my limitations and grow through them, create opportunities for others that enabled us as a team to grow together.  Woodford allows you to fit into your role, develop yourself and share responsibilities with other team members, allowing them to grow too.   We can only influence the social care system, but we can change the children’s lives who come to live at Woodford.  If you li

ke that idea, then you should come and work for us.
